Academic Work

Visiting Research Fellow: Department of Meteorology, University of Reading: 2016-2020

Understanding the biases/issues brought out about by climate model use in building of risk models with the aim to provide recommendations on their usage.

Honorary Research Associate: UCL Hazards Research Centre: 2009-2012

Research into understanding the efficacy of numerical downscaling in helping to understand severity of windstorm risk. Presented findings at NCAS/NCAR WRF workshop in Cambridge during this period (see attached .pdf)

Post-Doctoral Position: University of Reading / Met Office: 2000-2001

Evaluation numerical model performance by validation against observations from vertically-pointing wind profilers in the United Kingdom. Highlighted the poor performance of the models during Windstorm Lothar.

PhD Meteorology: University of Reading 1996-1999

Research surrounding the processes involved with the development of extra-tropical cyclones using analysis of air trajectories and the development of diagnostics pertinent to the how unstable the atmosphere is during the development of frontal systems within extratropical cyclones (see attached .pdf)
